Events turn ominous when BAAL shows Selene a video from alien’s just like him who have manipulated our universe from the beginning of time to produce human beings—so they will, in turn—create new AI’s! The fate of humanity hangs in the balance. Recognized by the thugs, Spanner engages them in a deadly fight, but is betrayed by the very man he came to save and finds himself bound for a life of slavery. Hansen versus the Vaptons: Brutally attacked, the Colonial Freighter Pulsar, is virtually destroyed by giant, lobster-like crustaceans known as Vaptons—but a few of the humans have survived and fight back with a vengeance! The crew moves the survivors into Engine Pod 7 (which uses nuclear triggers for propulsion) and the captain calls for Suzy Maitlyn—hoping she may know of a solution—for if they fire a ‘propulsion package’ without the massive freighter’s weight, they will die! Suzy recalls something about a ‘gravity machine’ and in a desperate gambit with death, she and a handful of space-marines set out. They find it alright, but accidentally turn it on and it viciously pounds them with brutally powerful gravity-waves. Will they survive?
